Chatswood Retail Market

Metro Chatswood is located at the very heart of Chatswood, one of Australia’s strongest retail markets. Only 8km from the Sydney CBD, Chatswood is strategically positioned at the intersection of Sydney’s affluent Lower and Upper North Shore regions. The importance of the location to the entire Sydney public transport network was recognised over a century ago, when Chatswood Railway Station was originally opened on the site in 1890.

The new Chatswood to Epping Rail Line reaffirms its position, with Chatswood now being the city terminus to the expanding Macquarie Park business district, Macquarie University campus and Sydney’s burgeoning North-Western population precincts.

Metro Chatswood occupies Chatswood’s most significant gateway site, linking the western commercial precinct with Chatswood Walk (formerly Victoria Avenue) and the retail Chatswood East. Few, if any, shopping centres can boast a position that not only occupies such a strategic site, but also the benefits of:

  • Up to 50,000 daily train commuters being ‘delivered’ directly into the middle of the shopping centre.
  • Up to 20,000 bus passengers visiting the site on a daily basis. (Pitney Bowes MapInfo estimate)
  • 300,000 sqm (approx) of commercial office space located immediately to the west of the centre, accommodating a daily workforce of over 18,000 people.
  • Existing high quality retail facilities in the middle of the city centre, ensuring that the name Chatswood is already synonymous amongst retailers Australia wide as one of the most successful retailing locations in the country.
  • An emerging city centre residential precinct already home to over 10,500 residents, with this projected to continue to increase by further development, including the three towers above the CTI, which could provide up to 1,200 additional new patrons to Metro Chatswood.
